Unique Features of the Las Vegas Custom Home Wine Cellar

The homeowners of a high-end home sought the help of Blue Grouse Wine Cellars to build a functional wine room in their basement. The team, composed of experienced builders and creative designers, made a thorough assessment of the client’s needs to determine the perfect wine storage solution for this project. The wine racks, door, flooring, and wine cooling system were carefully thought out.

Wine Rack Design Perfect for the Las Vegas Custom Home Wine Cellar

Blue Grouse Wine Cellars created a design tailored to the unique needs of the client who wanted to have a wine rack system designed to accommodate the 750-ml bottles, magnums, and other large-format bottles. He also wanted to combine wood and metal to create a transitional effect and incorporate a cigar humidor into the design. The wood

Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed wood wine racks on the left and right walls of the Las Vegas custom home wine cellar. The center of the left wall has custom cabinetry consisting of horizontal display shelves and Louvered grills to conceal the wine cooling unit evaporator. There are individual wine racks at the top section and rectangular openings at the bottom for storing the cigar collection and wooden cases of the client.

The wood wine racks on the back wall are the focal point in the wine room. It consists of an arch opening with an island marble countertop where the client can store more bottles and serve their favorite vintages. The arch is flanked by two columns of horizontal display and individual wine racks.

There are wood case storage bins and diamond bins on the right wall.  For added storage, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars added quarter bottle openings below the countertop. The wood wine racks were manufactured using Oak, a type of wood that has the qualities essential for wine racks installed in highly humid conditions like in refrigerated wine cellars. It is highly resistant to warping, durable, and strong. The Blue Grouse team applied a stain to the wood to achieve a richer look.

Metal Wine Racks Designed to Add a Contemporary Feel to the Las Vegas Custom Home Wine Cellar

The right wall consists of metal components that add a contemporary and luxurious feel to this custom home wine cellar built in Las Vegas. Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed the Float Racking System, solely manufactured by them. The installation of the wine racks required the team to create proper structural backing in the ceiling and flooring.

This innovative wine storage system consists of glass plates arranged vertically and held securely by high-tension cables. The generously sized plates can hold standard and large-format bottles comfortably. The wine bottles are displayed horizontally, showing off the wine labels. When viewed from afar, the bottles look like they are floating in the air.

The Float Racking System offers many advantages. You can adjust the spacing of the bottles to maximize the bottle capacity of your wine cellar. If space is not a problem, you can space the bottles loosely. There are two finish options for the hardware, the Satin Chrome finish and the new Matte Black finish. You may also choose between the label forward and neck-forward bottle configuration.

The standard height of the cables is up to 10 feet. For Las Vegas custom home wine cellars with taller ceilings, Blue Grouse Custom Wine Cellars offers longer cables. The label forward display racks can be spaced so that each column has a minimum of a 13-inch width to accommodate standard (750 ml) bottles. For the neck-forward displays, the minimum width requirement is 7 inches. For the vertical spacing, a 4-inch gap is ideal for 750 ml bottles. Installing the Float Racking system also requires ¾-inch plywood backing affixed to the framing.

Wine Cellar Cooling Unit

Creating a stable wine storage environment is crucial in wine room construction. A wine cooling system is needed to achieve the ideal temperature (50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit ) and humidity levels (60 to 70 percent). Proper sizing is a vital step in determining the correct size of the refrigeration unit for a particular project. Failure to do so will result in costly damages.

In this project, Blue Grouse Wine Cellars installed the CW-30W cooling unit from ONAM. They ducted the unit and concealed it within the wood racking on the left wall of the Las Vegas custom home wine cellar. The unit was a perfect choice for the large wine room, considering its size and the glass components utilized for the door. It has maximum cooling performance and high-grade components.

Wine Cellar Door and Flooring

The wine cellar door in this Las Vegas custom home wine cellar has a vintage touch. The contractor supplied the custom wood and wrought iron French door and installed the Versace floor tiles complementing the transitional style wine room.
